With a record of 3 won games and only one close loss against Barcelona Ulm was the big surprise at this years Adidas Next generation cup in Valencia`s first round competition:

After an unexpected close loss against later winner U18 FC Barcelona (MVP there: Michael Caicedo) the Ulm team led by its Headcoach Anton Gavel was the big surprise at this years first round ANGT in Valencia:

Although most experts expected the win vs. French first time contender U18 Nanterre 92 (67 – 52) the wins against U18 Herbalife Gran Canaria (70:58) and U18 Unicaja Malaga (69 – 65) came nothing more than a surprise.

It is worth mentioning, that the Ulm squad consisted only of players of the own programs (OrangeAcademy and ratiopharm Ulm) and did not host any guest players this year. This not only shows the great potential and massive talent at Ulm, on an international level, but also the professional work and expertise of the coaching staff led by the coaches Gavel and Ensminger.

Jeremy Sochan (15,5 Pts, 12,8 Reb, 2,8 Ast) was one of the key players contributing to Ulms great success. However the well distributed playing time allowed several German players to showcase their talent this year:

Jakob Hansalek (9 Pts / 3 Reb / 2,3 Ast)

Jacob Ensminger (8,8 Pts, 5,5 Reb, 1,8 Ast)

Lenny Liedtke (3,8 Pts, 3,3 Reb, 0,8 Ast)

Antonio Dorn (5 Pts, 3 Reb, 0,5 Ast)
