German 18 and Under Squad Surprises at FIBA European Challenger

The German 18 and under squad led by head coach Marius Huth came out as a big surprise at the FIBA European Challengers in August 2021 in Skopje North Mazedonia.
After two losses against Serbia and Spain, the team continued with a triple winning streak, beating amongst others Croatia (FIBA rank 8).
Eventually team Germany ended up with a third place and a bronze medal, the best result by a German U18 team since 2001.
Ulms Michael Rataj scored an average of 15.0 Pts. and added 6,6 Rbds. Benjamin Schröder from IBAM led the team, in scoring (16.6 Pts.) and efficiency (17.2) and added also 5.8 Rbds. to his impressive statline. With a shooting percentage of 70,7% he ended up as the leader of all European FIBA Challengers in this category and was voted by FIBA in the 10 best players who stood out at the FIBA U18 European Challengers.
